Soltan Gala was found in the XI-XII centuries. At that period of time, Merv became the capital of the Great Seljuks and got on top. Over the time, Seljukid Sultan Melik Shah ordered to build fortress wall and a moat. This fortress has the total area of over 400 hectares, which nowadays known as Soltan Gala- Fortress of the Sultans.
If you travel to the northeastern part of Soltan Gala, you will find a citadel – the Shahriar-ark, where the palace developments of the Soltans, administrative buildings and military camp were located. It will be wonderful if you visit this stunning architecture in a tour.
